Il Mecenate is an osteria in Lucca, founded in the countryside of Gattaiola in 1996 and moved into the city on the Fosso di Lucca in 2012; it is selected by the MICHELIN Guide. The kitchen is led by Sole, who for more than twenty-five years has focused on straightforward, territory-rooted cooking with dishes such as tordelli, pappa al pomodoro, testaroli and bistecca alla fiorentina, alongside house-made breads and pastas. The venue works with small local producers and maintains a wine list of about 300 labels; in summer guests can dine on the veranda overlooking Piazza San Francesco.
