Osteria del Viandante in Rubiera occupies the bastions of the historic Forte, set among flowered terraces and restored frescoes that brighten the building. Chef Jacopo Malpeli, with experience in Parma, Piacenza, Modena and Bologna, bases the kitchen on selected local producers and ingredients such as fresh filled pastas, balsamic vinegar, rare cured meats and cheeses, notable meats, river and Adriatic fish, with occasional foie gras and caviar. The à la carte menu and the two tasting menus Il Cammino del Viandante and L'Orto are backed by a cellar of over 7,000 bottles and about 2,000 labels, and the restaurant has introduced sustainable solutions.
