Alex Magnan’s Merlot, from La Rocca del Sole, belongs to the family tradition of this estate in Corno di Rosazzo, within the Friuli Colli Orientali. Merlot was among the first grapes planted by grandfather Pietro in the 1950s. The estate preserves historic vineyards and works without chemical herbicides, allowing grass cover to protect the soil and encourage biodiversity. Harvesting is manual and takes place during the cooler hours. This attention to vineyard work accompanies a restrained approach in the cellar, intended to express the grapes’ hillside origins.
