Alois Lageder’s Cor Römigberg connects Cabernet Sauvignon with a steep hillside overlooking Lake Caldaro. Cor, Latin for heart, refers to the parcel named Herz. In the 1980s, vines of Schiava were replaced with Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, using small terraces and Guyot training. South and southeast exposure meets Mediterranean influences, while the underlying geology includes Dolomitic limestone and ancient glacial deposits. Biodynamic cultivation focuses on the relationship between soil, plants and animals within the estate, placing the vineyard’s natural setting at the centre.
