Description

Au Bon Climat’s Sanford & Benedict Chardonnay comes from the vineyard of the same name, planted in 1971 by Richard Sanford and Michael Benedict in the cool hills now within Sta. Rita Hills. Jim Clendenen began buying its grapes in the nineteen-eighties, establishing a lasting relationship with this site. Deep, well-drained soils are covered with siliceous gravel, while ocean influence contributes to slow ripening. This cuvée is dedicated to one of Santa Barbara County’s historic vineyards, which has contributed to the winery’s production for decades.
