Alexandre Filaine DMY comes from the small artisanal world of Fabrice Gass and Elisabeth in Damery, in the Vallée de la Marne. Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Meunier are sourced from parcels where chalk meets thin clay coverings. Gass’s experience at Bollinger is reflected in his use of old barrels and personal involvement through to riddling and disgorgement. The importer describes the cuvée through dried fruit, candied citrus and spicy nuances, with balance accompanying the wine’s development. Effervescence integrates the substance of the wine and leads towards a savoury, saline finish, a defining feature of this selection.
