Description

Huilkrans is a single-vineyard Chenin Blanc from Alheit Vineyards, grown on the Oudam Farm site within Citrusdal Mountain (Skurfberg). The fruit comes from old bushvines with low yields and was whole-bunch pressed; fermentation took place with indigenous yeasts in foudres and seasoned barrels. The wine spent about 12 months on lees followed by a further 6 months in tank, showing aromas of ripe apple, citrus oil and floral notes. On the palate it is ample, supported by lively acidity and a sappy, persistent finish.
