Description
Magnetic North is Alheit Vineyards’ Chenin Blanc from Skurfberg, within the Citrusdal Mountain designation. It comes from two neighbouring parcels planted in 1981 and 1984, where ungrafted bush vines are farmed without irrigation. Iron-rich red sand overlies clay on a gentle southeast-facing slope. Whole-bunch pressing precedes spontaneous fermentation in wood and concrete, followed by time on the lees. The estate emphasises the wine’s combination of strength and finesse. First produced in 2013, this single-origin bottling places the character of its vineyards at the centre of its identity.
