Description

The Guyon family's Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits Rouge comes from Meuilley, close to Nuits-Saint-Georges. Pinot Noir is grown on a south-facing hillside with clay-limestone soils. The grapes are hand-picked into small crates and sorted at the winery, then fermented in wooden vats with cap punching and temperature control. Maturation combines oak barrels and larger oak casks. A dark ruby colour accompanies small-berry aromas and a rich, balanced palate with persistence. Red meats, roasts and cheeses are suggested food matches for this wine from the hills above the Côte de Nuits.
