Description

Antonin Guyon's Corton Clos du Roy Grand Cru is made at Aloxe-Corton from Pinot Noir grown on clay-limestone soils. The grapes are harvested by hand into small crates and then sorted at the winery. Vinification takes place in wooden vats with cap punching and controlled temperatures, followed by maturation in oak barrels. A garnet colour accompanies blackcurrant and raspberry aromas, with suggestions of vanilla and liquorice. The palate is deep, with intense fruit, very fine tannins and a long finish. Suggested pairings include roasts, duck, pheasant and meat dishes served with sauce.
