Description

Clos des Chênes is a Volnay Premier Cru in the southern Côte de Beaune. Antonin Guyon produces a Pinot Noir here from clay-limestone soils, with grapes hand-harvested into small crates and sorted at the winery. Vinification takes place in wooden vats with cap punching and controlled temperatures, followed by maturation in oak barrels. A dark ruby colour leads to aromas of red fruit and woodland undergrowth. The palate is rich and persistent, with a defined finish. Meats served with sauce, duck, pheasant and cheeses are the estate's suggested food matches.
