Description

Arianna Occhipinti’s Vino di Contrada SM is a white wine made from Grillo grown in the Santa Margherita vineyard at about 490 metres above sea level. Soils are calcareous-sandy and farming is biodynamic, with harvest in the first ten days of September. Fermentation takes place in cement tanks and Austrian oak vats, followed by roughly 10 months of ageing (part in cement, part in wood) and an additional four months in bottle. Labeled Sicilia DOC, the wine is presented as a site-specific expression of Vittoria and the Grillo variety.
