Description

Canada do Monte is a white wine from the D.O. Pico produced by Azores Wine Company from old vineyards planted in volcanic rock fissures on Pico Island. The blend is dominated by Arinto dos Açores with smaller amounts of Verdelho, Boal (Malvasia Fina) and Alicante Branco; vinification combines stainless-steel fermentation with a portion fermented in oak. The wine shows a straw-yellow colour with saline, iodine-tinged and citrus aromas reflecting its maritime terroir; on the palate it is concentrated, driven by lively acidity and marked salinity. Pairs well with shellfish, crustaceans and iodine-rich fish.
