Bass Phillip’s Estate Pinot Noir comes from the property’s vineyards in South Gippsland, in southeastern Australia. Dense plantings cultivated without irrigation occupy a cool, humid setting with deep silty soils and volcanic mineral components. Organic and biodynamic viticulture accompanies management aimed at low yields. In the cellar, natural yeasts and gentle handling keep the texture of Pinot Noir at the centre of the approach. Estate expresses the relationship between old vines, local climate and attention to texture within the house’s range of red wines.
