Description

Bérêche's Aÿ Grand Cru 2016 combines Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from Brise Pot and Froide-Terre, cool parcels bordering Mutigny. Thin topsoils lie over Campanian chalk, a defining feature of these vineyards. The 2016 blend comprises 75% Pinot Noir and 25% Chardonnay, with slow barrel fermentation followed by extended lees maturation. The importer describes clearly defined white fruit, delicate spice and a persistent chalky character. This is an interpretation of Aÿ that seeks depth together with precision and energy, allowing the cooler position of the parcels to shape the expression of the Grand Cru.
