Echézeaux Grand Cru

Description

Louis Billard's 2023 Échézeaux is a Pinot Noir from clay-limestone soils, with production limited to three hundred bottles. Entire bunches are used throughout fermentation, with seven days of maceration in an oak vat. Maturation continues for fifteen months in new 228-litre François Frères barrels, followed by two months in stainless steel. The wine receives very gentle filtration and a restrained sulfur addition before bottling. These choices define a small-scale Grand Cru within Billard's personal venture, developed after his formative experiences at Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Domaine Georges Roumier and By Farr.
