Description

Beaune Clos du Roi is a Pinot Noir Premier Cru lying below Les Marconnets. Its name recalls the vineyard’s transfer from the dukes of Burgundy to the French crown. Clay-limestone soils and easterly to southeasterly exposure define the setting of Bouchard Père & Fils’ parcel. Grapes are harvested and sorted by hand, then fermented in small vessels and matured in French oak barrels. The wine brings together cooked fruit, citrus peel and light toasted notes, with a broad, rounded palate that retains an elegant character.
