Description

Les Avaux takes its name from a hollow in the slope, reflected in the old place-name Vaux. In this Beaune Premier Cru, Bouchard Père & Fils grows Pinot Noir on deep clay-limestone soils with an east to southeast exposure. Hand harvesting and bunch selection precede fermentation in small vessels, followed by gentle pressing and maturation in French oak barrels. The wine shows notes of cooked fruit and woodland undergrowth, with a fleshy, harmonious texture. Elegant tannins support the palate and contribute to its capacity to develop in bottle.
