Description
Bouchard Père & Fils Pommard Premier Cru brings together Les Chanlins Bas and Les Combes Dessus, two parcels close to Volnay that contribute complementary structure and strength. Pinot Noir grows on gravelly clay-limestone soils marked by the presence of iron. Grapes are harvested and sorted by hand, then fermented in small vessels and matured in French oak barrels. The bouquet suggests small black fruits and a gamey nuance. Firm and substantial on the palate, the wine benefits from bottle development, allowing its youthful vigour to become more settled.
