Description

Sage is Cascina Lieto’s Freisa, part of the project founded by Rie and Hiroto Sasaki in the hills of Castiglione Tinella. Its name refers to the act of tasting, a central part of their work: decisions at harvest and in the cellar are guided by close observation of the grapes and wine. Freisa forms part of the small red-wine range alongside the estate’s Moscatos. The grapes are destemmed and macerated on their skins, with cellar work allowed to proceed at its own pace. It reflects the couple’s exploration of Piedmontese varieties and their patient, artisanal production.
