Description

First produced in 1993, Lupicaia is Castello del Terriccio’s red wine associated with the vineyard of the same name, bordered by rows of eucalyptus. Its name recalls a local stream where, according to the estate’s account, wolves were once seen. Cabernet Sauvignon forms the basis of the blend. Bunches are selected by hand, and the component wines mature separately in Allier oak tonneaux before blending. Further time in bottle precedes release. The estate describes a full-bodied wine with aromatic complexity and the capacity to develop with age.
