Description

Chandon de Briailles’ Corton-Charlemagne comes from a small Chardonnay parcel planted in 1990 in the upper, northern part of the Les Renardes climat. Limestone marl reaches the surface here, explaining the site’s suitability for white wine. The same geographical origin, if planted with Pinot Noir, would instead produce Corton Les Renardes, a particular feature of Burgundy’s vineyard mosaic. The estate presents the wine through its mineral and floral character, supported by power and considerable persistence. It is a precisely located expression of the Corton hill from a very limited vineyard area.
