Description

Aux Montagnes comes from Comblanchien, high on the slope, where Pinot Noir grows in pale, stony soils over limestone bedrock. An eastern exposure and vines planted in 1960 define this organically cultivated parcel. Attention to the canopy includes manual work and the retention of a tall curtain of leaves. Charles Lachaux ferments whole bunches with native yeasts and seeks a measured extraction. The wine is bottled without fining or filtration, offering a distinctly site-based view of a less celebrated, yet clearly identifiable, part of the Côte de Nuits.
