Description

Bonneau 2018 is Château Closiot’s sweet Barsac, from the property acquired by Jean-Marie Guffens in 2017. The limestone ground of this part of the Sauternais underpins the project. In 2018, noble rot developed in late October after rain and morning fog; subsequent sunny weather allowed selective harvesting over several passes. Vertical pressing preceded fermentation in barrels. The wine combines an enveloping texture with lively acidity, showing suggestions of mandarin, apricot, beeswax and spices before a distinctly botrytis-influenced finish. It expresses the combination of concentration and freshness sought at this Barsac estate.
