Description
Château Haut-Brion comes from Pessac, in the northern Graves area within the Pessac-Léognan appellation. Its vineyard occupies a gravel terrace shaped by small rises, with quartz deposits over a varied subsoil of clay, sand and limestone. Slopes and a network of streams encourage natural drainage and help define the site. The red wine combines Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, with their balance determined by the vintage. Haut-Brion holds two historic distinctions: First Growth in the 1855 classification and Cru Classé de Graves. Its winemaking history reflects centuries of close attention to this distinctive place.
