Description

Château Trotanoy is a Pomerol red rooted in a vineyard that slopes gently westwards. Gravel is more prominent in the higher sections, while clay becomes increasingly important further down the slope; an iron-rich layer known as crasse de fer also lies beneath the surface. The estate’s name refers to the difficulty of cultivating these soils, which become exceptionally hard when dry. Acquired by Jean-Pierre Moueix in 1953, the property makes its wine in small vats before oak-barrel maturation. Concentration, depth and the capacity to develop over time are central to the wine’s character.
