Description

Le Bourg expresses the deeper, more structured side of Clos Rougeard. The cuvée comes from old Cabernet Franc vines in the heart of Chacé, on predominantly limestone ground covered by a shallow layer of clay loam. This origin is distinct from the sandy soils of Les Poyeux and central to its personality. The Foucault brothers established an approach based on farming without synthetic products, gentle extraction and unhurried maturation. Barrel ageing and rest in the estate's tuffeau cellars accompany a wine described by the domaine as dense, fleshy and full-bodied, with the particular character of its vineyard firmly at the centre.
