Description

Produced by Elvio Cogno, the “Pre-Phylloxera” is a Barbera d’Alba DOC made from own-rooted, pre-phylloxera vines in the small Berri parcel near La Morra. Vinification is in stainless steel under temperature control, followed by about 12 months’ ageing in large Slavonian oak casks. The wine shows concentration and solid structure reflecting the century-old vines and hillside exposure, and it can benefit from moderate bottle aging.
