Description
Caracol dos Profetas Fazendas da Areia 2022 is a white wine from Porto Santo (D.O.P. Madeirense) made exclusively from the indigenous Caracol grape. The fruit comes from 40–80 year-old vines on calcareous sandy soils; vinification includes fermentation on the lees and about 11 months' aging in oak barrels. Pale straw in colour, it shows intense citrus and orange-peel aromas with saline/iodine notes and subtle gunpowder hints; the palate is unctuous yet balanced by fresh acidity. Well suited to seafood dishes and shellfish with saline or briny elements.
