Description

Pinot Noix grew from Daniel Twardowski's ambition to interpret Pinot Noir through the steep vineyards of Dhroner Hofberg, in a side valley of the Mosel. Slate and veins of iron oxide characterise the soils, while cool air from the Hunsrück helps ventilate the slopes. Vineyard work is meticulous and carried out by hand. Rather than reproduce a Burgundian model, the producer seeks to bring the delicacy and distinctive spicy character associated with this landscape into Pinot Noir. The name Noix refers to walnuts and the trees surrounding the original vineyard.
