Descendientes de J. Palacios’s Las Lamas 2018 comes from a steep slope in Bierzo, where slate overlies clay. Erosion keeps the topsoil shallow in vineyards lying between 670 and 730 metres above sea level. Mencía dominates the blend, accompanied by Palomino and Alicante Bouschet. Biodynamic farming forms part of Ricardo Pérez Palacios’s work focusing on the identity of individual vineyards. Las Lamas occupies a distinct place among the estate’s selections: a red closely associated with its steeply sloping site and intended for extended development in bottle.
