Description

Domaine Arlaud Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru is made from Pinot Noir in Gevrey-Chambertin, grown on clay-limestone soils. The name Charmes may refer to former cultivated fields that returned to fallow, or to hornbeam trees, two interpretations rooted in the site’s history. Grapes are hand picked into small crates, sorted and transferred by gravity. Spontaneous fermentation takes place in wooden vats with yeasts present on the berries. Maceration and pressing proceed gently before maturation in oak barrels. Bottling without fining or filtration completes the cellar work for this Grand Cru.
