Armand Rousseau's Chambertin Grand Cru brings together Pinot Noir from several parcels within the appellation, including Larrey at the woodland edge. The dominant aspect is easterly, and the ground has a high limestone content, with clay, marl and crinoidal limestone. This varied vineyard foundation is reflected in a wine with substantial structure and concentrated substance. The profile described by the estate includes small red fruits, liquorice and chocolate. A long finish and considerable depth accompany its vigorous personality, making it a central expression of the family's Gevrey-Chambertin vineyard heritage.
