Description
Armand Rousseau's Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru combines grapes from two Charmes-Chambertin parcels and one in Mazoyères-Chambertin. The vineyards face east and provide complementary geological elements. In Mazoyères, Comblanchien limestone is covered by debris carried from the Combe Grisard; in Charmes, crinoidal limestone occupies the upper section, with Comblanchien limestone lower down. Pinot Noir therefore draws on different types of ground within the same cuvée. The estate particularly emphasises its supple texture, finesse and elegance, qualities that distinguish this expression within Rousseau's range of Gevrey-Chambertin grands crus.
