Armand Rousseau's Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru Clos Saint-Jacques comes from a southeast-facing slope where the ground changes with elevation. Marl and shallow clay dominate above; the middle section has deeper soil and limestone stones, while Prémeaux limestone appears below. The vineyard's cool setting supports a harmonious yet intense profile. The estate describes strong, well-integrated tannins, with blackcurrant and small dark-fruit aromas. The cuvée thus combines energy, depth and precision in one of its most recognisable expressions, drawing on the complementary geological layers within this celebrated Gevrey-Chambertin premier cru.
