Armand Rousseau's Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru Les Cazetiers comes from an east-facing parcel just beyond the wall of Clos Saint-Jacques. Ochre-coloured soil is rich in clay and limestone stones, which encourage drainage and release stored warmth during the night. Along the slope, marl in the upper section gives way to rock and debris in the middle, then silt and more clay below. The wine expresses this origin through an elegant, complex and precise profile, with a structure that retains energy and definition within the estate's range of Gevrey premiers crus.
