Description

Berthaut-Gerbet's Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru comes from Pinot Noir in a parcel along the eastern wall of the clos, with minimal slope and stony, clay-rich ground. The vines were planted in 1956. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts in concrete vats and may include a variable proportion of whole bunches. Extraction relies on pump-overs and a few punch-downs towards the end of fermentation. Subsequent resting in oak barrels accompanies the wine's maturation, maintaining a measured cellar approach in support of the fruit and its clearly identified vineyard origin.
