Description

Berthaut-Gerbet's Echézeaux Grand Cru comes from Pinot Noir planted in the 1930s on limestone and marl. The small vineyard holding connects the cuvée to a heritage of old vines in the Côte de Nuits. In the cellar, fermentation uses indigenous yeasts and concrete vats; whole-bunch inclusion is adjusted rather than fixed at a single proportion. Pump-overs and a few late punch-downs provide measured extraction. Maturation continues in oak barrels, with new wood alongside previously used vessels, accompanying the wine's development towards balance before it is bottled and released.
