Description

Domaine Clape’s Cornas is a selection of Syrah from the family’s old vines on steep granite slopes above the village. Terrace work is carried out by hand, with close attention to grape ripeness. Parcels are vinified separately as whole bunches, using natural yeasts and open concrete fermentation tanks. Malolactic conversion and extended maturation continue in old large casks, without new oak defining the style. The final blend brings together different nuances of the appellation, continuing Auguste Clape’s traditional approach and the close relationship between Syrah, granite and the family’s work on these demanding hillsides.
