Description

La Romanée is Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair’s small grand cru monopole in Vosne-Romanée, planted entirely to Pinot Noir. Within less than one hectare, it brings together distinct geological nuances: reddish-brown soil rests on compact Prémeaux limestone to the west, while the eastern section has a greater clay-limestone component. Care for the fruit continues in the cellar through sorting, spontaneous fermentation and transfers by gravity. Oak maturation and bottling without fining or filtration support an interpretation centred on the identity of the site. This cuvée makes the relationship between vineyard scale, precision of work and individuality especially tangible.
