Description

En Gerlieus is Domaine de Cassiopée's red Bourgogne, made from Pinot Noir grown in Chassey-le-Camp near Santenay. The vines were planted in 1975 on a north- and northeast-facing hillside, where red clay covers limestone bedrock. Vinification involves maceration in stainless steel with a proportion of whole bunches, followed by maturation in used barrels. Hugo Mathurin and Talloulah Dubourg favour a restrained approach in the cellar and an individual reading of each parcel. The wine represents a deeper, more concentrated side of their work, while keeping fruit energy and the vineyard's particular identity at its centre.
