Description

Jean Marshall's Les Cras comes from the upper part of an east-facing slope at the outlet of the Combe de Chambolle, which brings cool air at night. Sandy-clay soil contains small limestone pebbles and marl outcrops. The Pinot Noir vines, planted in 1992, were subsequently grafted with massal selections. Fermentation begins with an indigenous-yeast starter and takes place in stainless steel. Maturation uses stoneware vessels, a choice that accompanies the expression of this Premier Cru without relying on oak aromas, keeping attention focused on its distinct vineyard setting.
