Description

Mugneret-Gibourg’s Les Chaignots comes from a parcel purchased by Georges Mugneret in 1971. This Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru faces east on steep, stony ground, with brown limestone soils and little clay. The thin surface layer and regular soil work encourage deep rooting. Its name probably recalls the oak trees once found in the area. In the wine, fruity and floral notes accompany a rounded, powerful palate, with aromatic complexity and a long finish. Generosity of structure combines with an elegant character, reflecting the particular expression of this individual site.
