Description

Olivier Leflaive's Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru is a Chardonnay from an estate-owned vineyard high on the Puligny-Montrachet slope. Poor soil, composed mainly of limestone marl, and a pronounced gradient define its setting. Harvesting is by hand; in the cellar, immediate, gentle pressing is followed by maturation in barrels. The wine's character combines power and liveliness, richness and finesse, with a prominent mineral dimension. Balance between substance and energy supports its subtle, layered personality, reflecting the particular position of Chevalier above the other great vineyard sites on the Montrachet hillside.
