Description

En Reniard comes from a lieu-dit south of the village of Gevrey-Chambertin. Pierre-Henri Rougeot finds a juicy, elegant expression of Pinot Noir here, with energy rooted in the balance of the grapes. Hand harvesting into small crates and sorting on tables precede whole-bunch fermentation. Work in the vat combines pump-overs with measured cap management; free-run and press wine are subsequently brought together. Transfer to barrel with the fine lees accompanies malolactic fermentation and maturation, following a restrained approach centred on the fruit. The wine offers a clearly identified village origin within Rougeot's small, parcel-focused maison.
