Grand Chaliot brings Aligoté grown just south of Nuits-Saint-Georges into Pierre-Olivier Garcia’s range, from mature, low-yielding vines. The cuvée shows his interest in a parcel-based interpretation of this variety alongside his better-known work with Pinot Noir. Oak maturation forms part of its cellar development within a project attentive to grape quality and recognisable origins. Garcia combines his own vineyards with enduring relationships with other growers, keeping a close focus on the raw material. Grand Chaliot therefore represents an individual expression of Côte de Nuits Aligoté rather than simply an extension of the estate’s red-wine range.
