Pierre Girardin’s La Croix focuses on the Aloxe-Corton side of the Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru. The parcel lies near the famous cross overlooking the vineyard and contains old Chardonnay vines. Rather than presenting a broad interpretation of the hill, this cuvée emphasises a narrowly defined, recognisable origin. Fermentation proceeds with indigenous yeasts in barrel, and maturation in wood is followed by a period in stainless steel. The wine is neither fined nor filtered before bottling. Its name, grape origin and cellar approach consequently remain closely connected throughout its development.
