Description

Thomas-Collardot's Les Enseignères comes from two small Chardonnay parcels planted in 1930 and 1988, directly below the Grands Crus Bâtard and Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet. Clay-limestone soils and an elevation of approximately 240 metres define this particularly well-situated source. Hand-picked grapes undergo slow pressing, followed by indigenous yeast fermentation in 350-litre oak barrels. Maturation on the lees precedes blending in stainless steel. White-fleshed fruit and mineral nuances accompany an incisive opening, concentrated texture and a long finish with a delicate minty accent. The wine combines the substance of its old vines with a clearly drawn, energetic profile.
