Domaines Schlumberger’s Clos Saint Léger is a Riesling from a single parcel within the Kitterlé Grand Cru. Planted in 1995, the vineyard occupies a small south-facing hollow, with terraces ranging from 342 to 392 metres in elevation. Its volcanic and sandstone origins give rise to light, sandy soil held in place by substantial dry-stone walls. The name recalls Saint-Léger church and the heritage of Murbach Abbey. This is an interpretation of Riesling anchored in a particular place, connecting the vineyard’s physical setting with the area’s history.
