Description

Domaines Schlumberger's Riesling Grand Cru Kitterlé comes from a rocky spur at the edge of the mountain. The vineyard faces southwest, south and southeast, with light, sandy soils of volcanic and sandstone origin supported by large dry-stone walls. Kitterlé is documented from 1699, and its wines have been sold under the site's name since 1830. The grapes are harvested by hand and pressed whole. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled foudres, followed by eight months on the fine lees, keeping this Alsatian site's identity central to the wine.
